Stories Like Mine is a crowdsourced database of accurate, responsible depictions of mental illness and mental health experiences as created or recommended by the experts—those living with mental illness and those who have lived experiences pertaining to mental health and illness.
The database is intended to be a public resource people can turn to for accurate mental health depictions—whether they are looking to feel less alone in their condition, hoping to familiarize themselves with a diagnosis a loved one has just opened up about, or curious about something else entirely! We hope that showcasing accurate accounts will, in turn, encourage other people to create accurate portrayals and to be more cautious when depicting mental illness.
Since Stories Like Mine is a crowdsourced database, we may be missing information. If you see any gaps, please email info@adifferentmind.org to let us know so we can fill them in.
Also, for this reason, content warnings may not be fully inclusive. For a better idea of complete content warnings, we recommend visiting https://www.doesthedogdie.com/.
You can also visit "Media to be vetted" to view additional depictions of mental illness that we think may be good representations, but have not yet been vetted by a peer. If you'd like to help us expand the database and have lived experience relating to one of the stories in this section, we'd appreciate it if you could check it out then let us know what you think by emailing info@adifferentmind.org.
